A Taste of the Culture Itinerary

Tour Amish Country, Take in the Theatre, and Stay Overnight on Beautiful Lake Shelbyville.

Come and explore the Amish heart land.  Depending on when you arrive, your first day can be an exploration of Illinois Amish Country. Take a self guiding audio tour or sign up for a step on guide to explain the Amish area. Enjoy a lunch in one of our authentic Amish homes. Spend up to half a day exploring the shops in downtown Arthur. Most guests wish they had planned more time on this portion of their stay.

In the late afternoon, head south toward nearby Sullivan. There we'll set you up to enjoy a dinner at Sister's On The Square in Sullivan for a light and tasteful meal. After dinner, stroll across the square and enjoy The Little Theatre on the Square. This recently remodeled "equity actor's theatre" is regarded as one of the best in the Midwest. After the show, or earlier in the afternoon if you wish to relax, change and get ready for dinner, you'll travel to your nearby resort accommodations and enjoy a night cap by the stone fireplace, and retire in a room with a beautiful view of Lake Shelbyville, one of the largest, and prettiest man-made lakes in Illinois. ACM Tours will have you all pre-checked in if you want to make a late arrival. 

The next day there is a lot more of Amish country to explore before you head out. We'll help you plan you itinerary for the second day or after your earlier tour, you can wander a bit on your own. We will point you in the direction of things you want to see more of, and when you're thru, you'll have a deeper understanding of the Illinois Amish culture and the joys of East Central Illinois.

This cultural experience of central Illinois will leave you with a great taste that you will want to experience again, and again.
